I dont think you can say that with windows, its definately got its limitations, as does os x. Can you edit the source code of those operating systems to suit your needs? NOPE! Can you do it with linux? yep..linux IS NOT unix just for you that are confused about it. Unix is closed source, linux is open source which means you are free to edit it as you wish. Closed source as you may or may not know, means that you cant edit the source code to fix bugs.
